    Description

Item for sale is the original August 15th, 2003, edition of the New York Daily News, newspaper. The lead story of the day was the massive blackout that took place the day before, which effected parts of the Northeast, Midwest and Ontario, Canada. In all over 50 millions would lose power in parts of New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Conneticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, Ohio, and Ontario, Canada. Many would get completely caught off guard as they prepared to make the rush hour trek home. In New York City the situation was catastrophic as millions were stranded in Manhattan from all over the tristate area in the dead of summer; with nightfall fast approaching their prospects seemed slim. Surprisingly crime would take a holiday as if by divine appointment; only 12 deaths would be reported over the effected area, a miracle, considering the sheer numbers of people effected. It would later be determined that the blackout was traced to a software glitch in Ohio. The massive blackout would easily eclipse the 1965 and 1977 New York blackouts. This is a great item suitable for framing.
