Very Rare 2 Page WWI German Death Card, DIED ON HIS 32nd BIRTHDAY From a Direct Shell Hit, Joining His Brother JosefDESCRIPTION:
Especially rare 2 page, WWI German death card for a soldier who died ON HIS BIRTHDAY from a direct shell hit in France, joining his brother. Very rare and very sad to die on your birthday.
Specifically: "Johann Rigl, soldier in the 2nd Bavarian Inf. Regt, 11th Company, who heroically died for the Fatherland on Jan. 8, 1916 (HIS BIRTHDAY), aged 32, in Arbeis (Northern France) as a result of a direct shell hit. He joined his brother Josef who fought with the same company and had previously died."
VERY CLEAR FULL PAGE PHOTO of this man wearing uniform and visored hat. On the reverse is also a very nice patriotic/military battlefield depiction.
Extremely difficult to find WWI soldier death cards anymore, but I am selling part of my collection and have a few nice ones to offer.
Very nice looking card, in good condition overall.
Original card, MORE THAN 100 years old, and a nice face and story to a very young soldier who otherwise would be a forgotten statistic.
No additional postage with multiple purchases.
Items are sold ONLY as historical artifacts and I respect any bans of such items in any countries where bids cannot be accepted.
A DIFFERENT, MUCH MORE UNUSUAL, AND HIGHER QUALITY DEATH CARD VS. THE MORE COMMON ONES GENERALLY SEEN ON EBAY.
PLEASE SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS!!!
