Original WWI Era German Military Hard Shell Leather Holster for the German Luger P08 Pistol - Converted from an Artillery Holster - Very Nice Condition
Up for Auction is an Original WWI Era German Military Hard Shell Leather Holster for the Luger P08 Pistol.  This holster was originally an Artillery Luger Holster.  It was factory converted to Military Configuration.  There are a partially visible manufacturer markings under the flap "Wilhem Becker & Co.".  The date is obsecured by the conversion.  The holster is used, see photo's for Condition.  Considering it's age, it is in Very Nice Condition.  The leather is soft and supple, no rips, holes or tears.  The stiching is all intact and not fraying.  The pull strap, to help remove the gun, is present, but the tip is broken off.  It has the spare magazine pouch on the side of the holster and it has the pocket for the break down tool under the flap.  A nice condition WWI Hard Shell Holster showing honest use but not abused.
After WWI it was common to take former Artillery Holsters and convert them to Military Configuration.  This conversion consisted of removing the cleaning rod pouch, the upward retention strap and the belt loops.  These items were replaced with the proper military configuration replacements. The cleaning rod pouch was replaced with a spare magazine pouch.  The length of the holster was shortened to accomodate the P08 pistol.
